Children with intellectual disabilities have the right to be included in all areas of life. How can we make this happen? The “Hear our Voices” project aimed to show the ways in which children with intellectual disabilities can participate in society. It was based upon a previous project that had monitored the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child for children with intellectual disabilities (UN CRPD) in 22 EU member states.

In the framework of the project, a policy briefing on the EU strategy on children rights from the perspective of the UN CRPD was developed.
Recommendations were presented at a side event at the UN with members of both the Committee on the Rights of the Child and the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Finally, a number of videos on children’s rights aimed at children with intellectual disabilities were created (available in 8 languages).
