The final event of the “Life after Violence” project will take place in Brussels on 21 November.

The “Life after Violence” study examined how experiencing violence and abuse affects women with intellectual disabilities.
We found the coping strategies they develop and the worldviews they adopt as a result of their experiences have an impact on their ability to live independently in society.

The study was done in the Netherlands, using a person-centered methodology. We had the opportunity to test several approaches to discuss this difficult topic with women with intellectual disabilities, and came up with useful conclusions and recommendations.

We are happy to be hosted by MEPs Lambert van Nistelrooij (EPP-NL) and Christine Revault d’Allonnes-Bonnefoy (S&D-FR) for the launch of the study.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English and Dutch.
